Here at the Center for Scholars & Storytellers, we help content creators make stories that are both engaging and developmentally appropriate. Our interdisciplinary team of experts and youth with lived experiences can support the creative process at multiple stages of production, providing guidance to ensure accurate and responsible portrayal of important topics and themes.
→ Real Feedback from Real Teens
We have the only program where teens can give direct feedback on real scripts. Through our Youth Media Representation (YMR) program, we teach teens how to conduct their own research around topics related to youth wellbeing and media, and then we teach them how to interact with various parts of the entertainment industry. Teens in our program are trained on how to read scripts and give notes about how authentic the story and characters feel to their own lived experiences. They are able to provide written notes or are also available for focus groups if a writer, director, etc. would like to discuss their script with a select group of teenagers and hear their feedback in real time.

We work with over 100 different collaborators from universities around the world able to offer subject matter expertise on how to portray important topics responsibly. For shows that are going into production / are in production, we can provide comprehensive notes on scripts and first cuts to help ensure you are portraying issues like mental health, teen pregnancy, friendship, masculinity, social media, foster care, race and class, etc. in a way that is accurate, has a positive social impact, and enhances your overall project to be more unique, interesting, and less reliant on outdated tropes.

We work with both novice content creators and experienced producers and writers and can provide notes on bibles and treatments.
